D`Artagnan Wins the Richest Bangalore Derby in History
The richest Bangalore Derby in history delivered a thrilling spectacle as D`Artagnan held off stablemate Margaretta by half a length in a gripping finish. Trained by Pesi Shroff, the race lived up to its billing, with Knotty Emperor also mounting a bold challenge before finishing third.
D`Artagnan’s victory further reinforced Shroff’s dominance in Indian Classics, while a post-race stewards’ enquiry into interference in the closing stages ultimately allowed the original result to stand.
The historic Derby also highlighted the contribution of two of Indian racing’s leading names. Zavaray S. Poonawalla’s generous sponsorship elevated the Bangalore Derby to record prize money, while Usha Stud Farm, breeders of D`Artagnan, celebrated by producing the winner of the richest edition of the race.
